Fly Fishing

Brandon came in town to fish with me this past weekend. He picked the perfect weekend. Conditions could not have been better. On Friday we fished a numbers spot. I wanted to give him a taste of what the Upper Coast has to offer. The day started off a little […]

The weekend started off with an early morning stroll down the beach… …with a pimped out canoe in tow and a convoy of trucks and skiffs following not far behind. We stumbled across a creature washed up and struggling to find it’s way back into the water. Brandon slammed on […]

Annual Beach Trip

Our annual voyage to the 60 mile stretch of uninhabited beachfront will commence tomorrow morning. I’m looking forward to spending time off the grid with a group of my fellow honks. Photos and another highlight video coming soon…

At first glance the muddy flats of the Upper Texas Coast aren’t exactly enticing to a sight fisherman. Let’s not kid ourselves these aren’t the pristine flats of Andros, Belize, The Keys, or even the Lower Coast. Our marshes are unwadeable. That is, unless you enjoy trekking through waist-deep mud. […]

I fished the Lydia Ann Fly Masters tournament out of Aransas Pass last Saturday. The weigh was at Tarpon Shores Marina, formerly Crab Man Marina. The new facilities are very nice compared to the old Crab Man Marina. The 2012 beneficiary was Casting for Recovery. It’s a catch and release […]
