Saved by the Reds

Trout fishing has been inconsistent as of late. The unseasonably warm winter has made it tough to pattern trout in their usual winter haunts. Only a few trout landed over the last few trips, but mostly solid fish.

Despite the slow trout fishing the redfish bite has been great in deep water. Piles of redfish stacked up in deep bayous, drains, and cuts. Heavy jigheads are key. Just ask Judson. Mark and I took turns hammering the redfish and bruising his ego as he stood next to us empty handed because his jighead was too light. Dark colors have been working best. TTF Hackberry Hustlers in morning glory have been my choice lure lately.
