In this video David Norris catches his first redfish on the fly. The story behind this video and the reason for our excitement, mine in particular, was we had a few shots at backing redfish on the fly rod this morning but we failed to connect. It was enthused and relieved when one of us finally connected. David’s hasn’t fished saltwater much and recently purchased (less than a week before this video was taken) his first saltwater fly setup. I spotted several backing redfish in a particular area within the marsh we were fishing and I wanted David to see his first backing redfish. I called him over to the area I was fishing started working our way down the shoreline looking for signs of fish. We spotted a few more fish and I sat back behind the camera while David went to work with the fly rod. He made a few back casts due to his elevated excitement level, but he made a great cast to this fish in the video and it took the shrimp fly.

While filming Ryan hooked up with an oversized redfish I spotted nice slot redfish swimming straight at me. I made a good cast out in front of the redfish and hooked up but the hook pulled loose after a very short fight.
